Our Story

Picture this: It’s August 2019, and I’m sitting in my minivan outside the school supply store, ugly-crying into a lukewarm latte. My oldest had just finished a miserable year in traditional school, my middle child was diagnosed with dyslexia, and my youngest kept asking why she couldn’t just “do school at home like the Johnsons.”

That parking lot breakdown became my breakthrough. Hi, I’m Sarah Chen—former public school teacher turned accidental homeschool advocate. After spending 12 years in traditional classrooms, I thought I knew education. Spoiler alert: I didn’t know jack about homeschooling.

Those first months were rough. I scraped sticker residue off our kitchen table at 11 p.m. while drafting curriculum comparisons on napkins. I joined seven different Facebook groups, each more overwhelming than the last. I drove 45 minutes to a co-op that turned out to be someone’s backyard trampoline party (not entirely a loss, but still).
